Gambhir's absence is not good!

Delhi Daredevils: An attacking batting line-up, some really good names in the squad and experts say that this team has what it takes to win IPL. When we saw the first two matches played by the team, it seemed they certainly can climb up the points table. But, the team faced a halt and is down to Number 6 in the points tally. They have lost 3 matches in a row and are facing the jitters. What could be the reasons for these losses? When cricket fans spoke, they blamed the decisions taken after the toss, they blamed Dinesh Karthik's captaincy and even the absence of key players.

This IPL has been an "Injuries' Premier League" by far and has left some of the biggies out of the game. But the worst hit by these injuries has been Delhi Daredevils. As Ashish Nehra and Gautam Gambhir (captain) are off to Sri Lanka for their treatment, the team meanwhile has not managed to win a game. When asked, stand by captain, Dinesh Karthik said that he is missing Gautam Gambhir more than anybody else. (Acc. to iplt20.com) This one statement makes it clear that Gautam Gambhir is as important as a foundation stone. His being back in the team would help the team regain its confidence and probably its winning streak too. Me being a delhi daredevils fan, is eagerly waiting for Gauti to get back and get DDs back on track. I feel, though Gauti's absence is not the only reason for Delhi's 3 losses in a row, but it certainly is a MAJOR reason.

The 'Mongoose' Bat!

A long handle, a three times thicker base, an amazing blade and that makes a nightmare for bowlers in IPL Season 3. Yes, its the Mongoose bat. It had Mathew Hayden of Chennai super Kings reaching his 90s in the last match between Delhi Daredevils and CSKs. This bat does wonders. Hayden says it has a faster bat speed besides power designed specifically for Twenty20 cricket. Even Andrew Symonds and Smith from Deccan chargers are playing with this 'small wonder' in this edition of the IPL. This 'ball crusher' becomes another highlight of IPL 2010 and has all eyes on it.

Is this bat really going to prove a nightmare for the other teams deprived of it? Well, we'll get to know as each game comes. Till then, if your favorite team is not one of these 2 teams, you might as well just sit back and hope that this mongoose does not prove to be as ferocious as a real mongoose is!

IPL and its oomph!

It has just been a couple of days to the start of IPL 2010 and the excitement level is at its peak already. With three thrilling ecstatic action-packed games played, this year's IPL is back in India and its back with a BANG!

In the first match between last year's weakest team Kolkata Knightriders and last year's champions Deccan Chargers, who would have thought that KKR could win it all in the last over. But what happened was completely surprising and the first match went to SRK's team.

The hangover of this surprise was not even over, and we had another super-exciting game between the Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals. This game had it all. When Mumbai reached a double-ton, nobody thought that the match could go to Rajasthan. but when Yousuf Pathan started firing, the game changed completely and Rajasthan looked completely unbeatable. But, there was yet another twist in the tale and just in the last over and another nail biting match, Mumbai Indians emerged winners, even though Yousuf Pathan ended up scoring a historic ton in just 37 balls.

And then came another jittery game between Kings XI Punjab and the Delhi Daredevils. Ravi Bopara was the only one who could hold on for a while batting at the pitch while the others just came and went. 142 looked like a very comfortable score for Delhi daredevils, who have an amazing batting line-up with Viru, Gauti, Dilshan and De Villiers. Yet, Delhi was facing the jitters with 3 wickets falling down in just no time. This again went on to be a last over game as Delhi struggled hard and managed to win with skipper Gautam Gambhir standing strong and scoring a 72.

And now, I'm looking forward to all the other games coming up. This IPL season has a great oomph to it. Its all happening out there, there is Ballistic Batting and Bowling, there are Fantastic Fours, there are Super Sixes, there is Frivolous Fielding there are Nervous Nerves, there are Exciting Edges, there are Glamorous Games, and that makes an Immensely Interesting IPL! looking forwards to even more action-packed games!
